Volunteer activities nowadays

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his Address "Constructive public dialogue - the basis of stability and prosperity in Kazakhstan" proclaimed the year 2020 - the Year of Volunteers.

Every year volunteering is becoming more and more popular both in our country and abroad. Currently, there are many areas in which a volunteer can self-actualize.

Today, the most common direction is social volunteering - helping people with disabilities, the elderly, lonely people, orphans, children with disabilities and other categories of the population.

People need different things: lonely people often just need to spend time together, sometimes clean the apartment, help with accompaniment (more important for pensioners and disabled people).

It is always a good opportunity for a person to show their talents, realize themselves in society, as well as gain new knowledge and skills.

Volunteering has a great influence on the education of schoolchildren and students, as it contributes to the formation of an active life position and an improvement in the level of intellectual development, since volunteering is a conscious, voluntary activity for the benefit of others.

The current situation in the country has shown the importance and huge role of volunteering in the life of society. So 2020 turned out to be a difficult year to test. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the spread of the new virus has reached the stage of a pandemic.

The state provided great assistance and support to fellow citizens who find themselves in difficult life situations. VOLUNTEERS OF THE BURABAY DISTRICT also did not stand aside: the public association "LIDER.KZ Volunteer Movement" of the Akmola region (coordinator - Baimova Olesya), the volunteer movement "Birge Bol" (coordinator - Kazhtaev Saken), volunteers of the Youth Resource Center of Burabay

After the announcement of quarantine, volunteers organized active campaigns in support of socially vulnerable segments of the population, lonely elderly people, disabled people, and the poor - to provide vital products and means of protection against infection. Negotiations were held with representatives of enterprises, where food baskets were collected and delivered by volunteers and independent drivers of the city of Shchuchinsk to the addresses of those in need.

Volunteers launched such social actions as: "Biz Birgems", "Kind People", "Who else but me", "Kind neighbors", "Piggy bank of good deeds".

During the quarantine period, more than 600 families were helped for a total of 9,000,000 tenge.

Hot meals were delivered daily to lonely elderly people, and medical masks were distributed free of charge. Leaflets were created and pasted on the entrances of residential buildings to prevent coronavirus infection among the population.

The public association "LIDER.KZ Volunteer Movement" of Akmola region is actively involved in the development of volunteering in the region.

Volunteer movement "Lider.KZ" in Shchuchinsk has opened a point of acceptance and distribution of things, food, household items, especially in need of citizens.

During the state of emergency in the country, the Lider.KZ Volunteer Movement from Nur-Sultan delivered 30 infrared thermometers and 200 chemical protection suits, 3600 medical masks with further delivery and distribution between Bulandinsky, Burabay districts and Kokshetau.

Volunteer movement "Lider.KZ" carried out delivery of medicines according to prescriptions - to 120 privileged recipients.

The volunteer movement "Lider.KZ" became part of the "Public Control", where during the pandemic they monitored the city's pharmacies for overpricing of medicines and artificial shortages of medicines (24 pharmacies), monitoring the shipment and reception of humanitarian aid from abroad and further transportation to medical institutions, monitoring of city schools for compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards.

On an ongoing basis, the Lider.KZ Volunteer Movement is organizing gatherings, posting orientations, training and instructing volunteers aimed at finding missing people.

According to the results of the competition for small grants for volunteer projects in the field of emergency situations, the public organization “Volunteer movement“ Lider.KZ ”of Akmola region won a grant in the amount of 300,000 tenge. Thanks to this project, an emergency response headquarters will appear in the region.

This project is underway, the purchase of items according to the submitted application is underway (thermos, water supply, flashlights, binoculars, compasses, reflective vests, first aid kits, etc.).

Supported the “Road to School” charitable action to collect school supplies for children in need (assistance was provided to 20 children).

And in the end, I would like to say the following that in this difficult period for our country, the volunteers united into one whole and rushed to help those in need.

The implementation of the volunteer movement has shown the importance and relevance in modern society, thereby creating the need for support and further development of this direction, which is what we actually do.
