On February 15, the capital's Khan Shatyr shopping center hosted a large-scale environmental festival and the " Throw in the yellow!". The event, which was attended by more than 3 thousand children, was held in support of the project on separate collection of solid waste in the city of Nur Sultan.

"Today we have a real celebration and festival of ecoculture! Just look at how many people gathered: about 3,000 children from 87 schools in grades 7-8. As well as parents. And 82 pre-school education organizations, as well as volunteers. In General, our initiative to change the culture of waste management was supported by a lot of people, " said the event organizer Tatyana Nemtsan.

During the festival, the Central hall of the shopping and entertainment center was divided into several zones and turned into a real amusement Park. Children participated in various Ecomaster classes. For example, for sewing eco-bags, as well as for making Souvenirs from recycled materials.

"We came to this festival together with our students. There are 20 of our 7th grade students here, and all of them are happy to participate in this event. Here, together with the children, we put drawings on eco-bags. At school, we take a very responsible approach to the issue of ecology. For our students, sorting out solid waste is a matter of course. They teach their parents how to do it. And in the school itself, we constantly hand over waste paper, make various toys out of plastic and give them a second life, " said Gulzhan Akimbetova, a teacher of the Kazakh language and literature of Lyceum No. 1.

"I am studying at an art school myself, and today we are drawing on disks with stained-glass paints together with our children. With our crafts, we show people what can be done from used things, and not throw them away. And of course, we tell children about how to properly sort solid waste and why it is very important, " said volunteer Rayhan.

According to the organizers, 6276 containers for recyclable materials are placed in Nur-Sultan, they are yellow. Volunteers told the audience that only recyclable waste should be thrown into these containers. This is waste paper, glass, metal packaging, small electronics, plastic waste, plastic bags. A separate white garbage truck comes to collect the recyclable material and takes it to the recycling plant. The rest of the garbage, which is mostly leftover food, diapers, broken mugs and other things that we call "wet" fraction, must be thrown into a green container.

And throughout the event on the scene took place rewarding of winners ecochallenge. So, in the action "Ecoshare: Christmas mood!"43 schools of the capital took part. In them, all the holiday decorations were made from recycled materials. The winners of this promotion were school-gymnasium No. 83 and kindergarten No. 77.

"Together with the Association of eco-organizations of Kazakhstan, maslikhat and Operator ROP LLP, a comprehensive plan for environmental conservation for 2020 was approved. So, one of the blocks of our work is campaigning - we try to convey to each resident, child, student how important it is to sort waste and how to do it correctly. We have installed special containers for separate collection of waste from plastic, paper and glass in 70 schools. Also, coverage goes to hospitals and clinics. There are also about 32 glass, plastic and metal reception points in the city. Work in this direction continues, " said Abdimanap jumadildayev, acting Deputy head of the Department of environmental management of Nur-Sultan akimat.

The highlight of the festival was the performances of various creative teams.

With their performances, the students also tried to draw the attention of the audience to the problems of ecology and separate garbage collection.

In addition, an exhibition of school projects on recycling and crafts from recycled materials was launched at the festival site.

Students demonstrated their MSW crafts and talked about the importance of recycling garbage.

So, Anastasia Frolova, a student of the 6th grade of school # 17, presented her ecobatyr made of solid waste-plastic bottles, disks, bags, and so on. "We made such a wonderful Batyr out of this garbage. I believe that people will stop polluting our world, " Anastasia said.

"As you know, garbage in cities consists of 40-50 percent of the most valuable raw materials: plastic, glass, paper, metal. Therefore, our task is to involve MSW in the turnover, consume less primary raw materials and consume more secondary ones! After all, now a lot of products are made from secondary raw materials: pipes, furniture, household goods, garden equipment, covering for playgrounds and much more. This includes our domestic enterprises that are engaged in this good cause. With such events, we attract our children to this eco-movement, and they are like sponges - they absorb everything at once. And thus our vector for a green economy will be observed, " said shynbolat Baykulov, Chairman of the Board of the Kazakhstan Association for waste management KazWaste.

As part of the festival, temporary recycling points were organized in the shopping center and a mobile mini-plant for processing plastic waste Eco-truck was presented. Inside the truck, everyone was shown how, for example, a used plastic bottle turns into an interesting souvenir product.

We add that on the day of the ecofestival, the "Throw in yellow" ecochellenge was launched not only in Nur Sultan, but also in the cities of Temirtau, Semey and Shymkent. The terms of the contest can be found on the website " My eco school of life!". The winner of the challenge will receive a certificate for 3000 pieces of flower seedlings for landscaping the school yard!

It should be noted that this year, separate collection of solid waste is planned to be implemented in four more cities: Aktobe, Semey, Turkestan and the regional center of the East Kazakhstan region-Ust-Kamenogorsk.
